Summary of Audio Interview

This is an interview between the Khanh Lan from Thoi Bao Television and Vietnamese Association of Kitchener-Waterloo. Executive board members representing for Vietnamese Association of Kitchener-Waterloo are Mrs. My Le and Mr. Dang Vinh Thuan. VAKW Kitchener was established 25 years ago, but it was closed down due to financial difficulties. At the beginning of 2009, with the generous and sincere supports of the previous members, VAKW was reestablished in order to serve Vietnamese community and promote Vietnamese culture to other ethnic communities in Canada.

According to Mr. Dang, one of the difficulties was to form a unanimous group to contribute ideas, maintain, and develop Vietnamese cultures among younger generations. Vietnamese Association Kitchener-Waterloo has also been successful in organizing many meaningful and free activities for the community with the purpose of improving knowledge and understanding about Canadian society such as citizenship class, driving class, math class, physic class, and chemistry classes for youth preparing for school in the coming year. In the future, VAKW will work on preserving the rich cultures and traditions of Vietnam and promoting Vietnamese cultures to other communities.
