In an interview with Quang Thai from the Voice of Vietnam Radio, Kim Thanh, a graduate of University of toronto who is now the leader of “Huong Viet musical group” said that this group was founded in 1998 and its first activity was organizing a musical entertainment program to help to bring To Khuong, a Vietnamese child with eye cancer, from Vietnam to Canada for treatment at Sick Kids’ Hospital in Toronto. Its members include young people who want to preserve and develop Vietnamese culture and language and to serve the community. They always use Vietnamese in their musical performances. They plan to organize a yearly musical entertainment program and to use its proceeds to help the poor or sick young people in Vietnam. They hope to get support and assistance from the Vietnamese community so that they can continue their activities.
